I am trying to installing multiple Python packages using the allPackages.txt file with the following two command.

pip install --download=/tmp -r allPackages.txt //downloads the packages 
pip install --user --no-index --find-links=/tmp -r allPackages.txt //installs them

But I get following error in my stack track:

Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement <package> (from matplotlib<2.0.0,>=1.3.1->-r allPackages.txt (line 2))

Solution 1

This worked <pkg> was pyserial:

python3 -m pip install <pkg>

Solution 2

The correct command is pip install -r allPackages.txt. Note the -r option; without it, pip thinks you want to install a package named allPackages.txt, which doesn’t exist.
